Parts of Speech

Hello friends welcome to Simply Grammatical,

Today's topic is "Parts of Speech"
Have you imagined how early humans must have been conveying their ideas to each other??There must have been a lot of misunderstanding and misinterpretation.A well developed language with a good script and literature is indeed a boon to mankind .Speech -here it doesn't mean the Speech that is delivered on various ocassions.Speech has its root in the Verb "Speak".The words that are used during conversation are classified according to their definite function or role in the sentence.Now what do you mean by a 'Sentence? Is  a sentence a group of words? Yes of course but what more?
Let me give you an example:The Jill up went and Jack hill  -isn't this a group of words??Well yes it is but is it a Sentence?.....
So let's put it this way -A sentence is a group of words that makes a complete sense.
Now what makes up a sentence??
Yes 'words'
What makes a word?
Yes 'Syllables'
What are these split into ?
Alphabets or letters .Even Alphabets  are divided into Vowels and Consonants right?In the same manner words can be classified as "Parts of Speech"
The 8 parts of Speech are:
1) Nouns(naming words)
2)Pronouns(used instead of a noun)
3) Adjectives (describing words)
4) Verbs (action/doing words)
5) Adverbs (add to the meaning of Verbs)
6) Prepositions (relating words)
7) Conjunctions(joining words)
8) Interjections (show strong feeling)
